About
Most of you are still coming to terms with the now inevitable departure of the UK from the EU on the 31st January. As one way of assisting that process, or just sharing it with like-minded others, Ipswich for a People’s Vote – as the last time it will be organising anything under that name – is holding a vigil on the evening of Friday 31st January, to which you, your friends and family are invited.
They will be holding a candle-lit silent vigil on Ipswich Cornhill. Do come with a tea light candle and a small jam jar, or similar (we will have some spares) to the Ipswich Cornhill at 10.45pm, and bring your family and friends. We will light the candles and put them on the Town Hall steps for 11pm (the official UK leaving time) and then stand silently together as the moment passes. When you are ready, pick up a candle (any candle) and take it home as a little beacon of light and hope. There will be no speeches or music, flags or banners, just people gathering in sadness, silence and solidarity.
So they have an idea of numbers please let them know by email: ipswichpv@gmail.com if you are likely to come and the number of people with you. If the weather on the night is looking horrendous, or for some other unexpected reason the event has to be cancelled, they will email you by 7pm on 31st and post on their Facebook page.
