If you think I should stop spending all of my time trying to stop Brexit, please read this.

If you find yourself thinking, “I’m bored with Brexit, I want it to be over,” please read this.

If you hear someone say, “I don’t do politics,” please read this.

The truth is that “Not doing politics” is a privilege. That has always been true. If you haven’t taken an interest in changes to laws around social security, it’s probably because you have no need of benefits. If you are relaxed about what happens to the NHS it’s probably because you enjoy good health or have the resources to go private if need be. If you don’t care about changes to the state pension, you are probably not a woman who found her retirement age moved unexpectedly just as it was within touching distance. If Windrush doesn’t sicken you, you’re probably white. If Grenfell didn’t incense you, you probably don’t live in a high rise flat. If you don’t worry about refugees across Europe it’s perhaps because you’ve never wondered how you would cope if your own government persecuted you, or famine struck or a foreign power started dropping bombs on your home.

If Brexit isn’t bothering you, you’re probably wealthy enough to survive the inevitable economic shock reasonably unscathed, you’ve probably not got family or friends living near the Irish border, and you probably have no friends or relatives who find their home country of decades has unilaterally decided to deny them a carefree continued existence.

I’m bothered by all these things and more.

So I’ll keep fighting. In battles between right and wrong, right always wins in the end. And that’s only because some people won’t let it go.

Don’t let go! Join me in the fight!
