Despite the windy conditions, our Suffolk EU Alliance street stall was well supported in Woodbridge today with about fifteen members assisting with distributing leaflets and running our Brexitometer in The Thoroughfare.
Having a crowd of supporters helps to produce a good vibe for passers-by who want to know what is attracting everyone’s attention. We also have the time to engage in a meaningful way with locals and visitors alike. We gave out leaflets demanding a second vote, outlining the work of Suffolk EU Alliance and promoting the London march next Saturday. Some expressed an interest in joining our fourth coach to the march – we await their confirmations.
Overall, we had a range of responses, but they were near united in their comments of the utter confusion in Westminster. Very few had an anti-EU attitude and our usual heckler, ‘Mr Golden Boots’, tried to pass us unnoticed. When I challenged him and asked for his comments on how the process is going he could only say, “Well you lot are still here!” He then sloped off with his tail between his legs. Perhaps he knows we are influencing local opinion, as are pro-EU grassroots groups in every corner of the country, and as a result the national tide is turning.
Thanks to everyone who gave up their time to assist today.
