Dear Members and Supporters,

As you are probably all aware MP’s will be voting on Mrs May’s Brexit deal next Tuesday, 11th December. It looks as though it will fail but we mustn’t be complacent. We need our supporters to write to their MPs to say why they should vote against the deal and to ask that they support the ‘People’s Vote’. The more we send, the better! A handwritten or printed letter always has more impact than an email. That said, if you don’t have time for a handwritten letter, then an email is better than no email! You can find all the Suffolk MP’s contact details at the bottom of this letter.

We know some people are unsure what to write, so we’re offering you two ways that can help you.

The first is this brilliant website set up by the People’s vote campaign where you can easily access a letter writing template by clicking on: Not Buying It. It cleverly asks you a few demographic questions before you get started, so it can include that information in the letter to make it more personal. When it produces the letter read it through and make any changes you think would improve it. You could then send it via the website or copy it to send as a letter through the post.

Or if you prefer, we’ve put together a letter-writing template of sentences and paragraphs that you can choose from, to copy verbatim, or to put your own spin on. When writing, it’s really important to include the personal touch: e.g. what you think is wrong with the deal, why you are so opposed to Brexit, how Brexit will affect you and/or your family, etc. You can find a link to the Word Document called Letter Generator here.

Please come and join us tomorrow, Thursday 6th December at 10.45 for a Rally in Ipswich outside the EADT offices where we will deliver a letter from the Suffolk EU Alliance to each of the seven Suffolk MPs prior to the vote on Theresa May’s deal next Tuesday. Then after refreshments we will hold another rally at Endeavour House 1.15pm before the beginning of a full Council Committee meeting. We’d like as many of you as possible to join us with your flags and banners to cheer our “meaningful letter” on it’s way.

For detailed information about this event and directions, see both maps on our website: www.suffolkeualliance.org
Locations:
10.45am East Anglia Daily Times, Portman House, Princes Street, Ipswich IP1 1RS This will be followed by refreshments.
1.15pm Endeavour House, 8, Russell Road, Ipswich IP1 2BX
