We enjoyed another fine autumn day campaigning in Beccles on Exchange Square. Our Brexitometer showed the vast majority of people who participated are dissatisfied with the government’s handling of Brexit and want a vote on the deal with an option to remain in the UK.
The Beccles event reminded us how much public opinion has shifted in the last months. Increasing numbers of people came up to us to thank us for our presence; and the idea of a People’s Vote is now firmly embedded in the national consciousness. There was a little hostility and some extended debates with individuals which remained unresolved. But who knows? Perhaps some of those people will go away, think some more, and change their mind?
SEUA’s presence was welcomed by Beccles citizens on that Saturday celebrating 100 years of women’s suffrage. We were reminded that even when the odds are against you, if you have truth on your side, you have hope.
