Dear Supporters and Members,

Important notices for this week:

1) Sadly the street stall in Stowmarket has had to be rescheduled due to imminent bad weather.

2) Our next Seckford Golf Club meeting is Tuesday, 16th October 7-9pm.
We are very fortunate to be able to meet at the Golf Club free of charge on the condition that 25 people book meals. You are all very welcome to come to just the meeting but we are really hoping enough people will pre book the meal option so that we can keep this spacious venue for our meetings.
The meal on the 16th Oct is fish and chips. The cost is £8.00 which you pay on the evening. The meal must be pre-booked at suffolkeu@gmail.com asap and at the latest by Friday 12th October. The meal will be served from 6.00pm.

3) Breaking News!! Thursday 15th November 7:30 pm. We have a special viewing of the film ‘Postcards from the 48%’ at The New Cut in Halesworth. The film is about the consequences of Brexit and shows why Remainers are continuing their fight to stay in the EU. It features many famous faces and people from all walks of life. Click here see the trailer!
The screening will be followed by a Q & A session with the film’s director David Wilkinson.

The tickets cost £8.00 (plus 8.5% booking fee charged by our ticketing agency) and can be bought here.

We want as many people to come as possible so if you need transport or you have a spare seat in your car please contact us. The New Cut is a lovely venue with a cafe where we can enjoy the film and a pleasant social time together.
This is a ticket only event: please book now to avoid disappointment.

NB The film evening has replaced the meeting on Tuesday 13th November at the Seckford Golf Club which has now been cancelled.

Monday 8th October 6pm, Chelmsford – Campaigning outside the UKIP meeting. We will be talking to people and giving out leaflets. Please contact me if you would like to help with this.

Saturday 13th October, Beccles, by Lloyds Bank 10am-1pm. Street stall and Brexitometer.

It will be much appreciated if you can come and join us, even if only for a brief time, so that we have a really strong presence in Beccles town centre.
Thank you to everyone who has already volunteered to help, we look forward to meeting you there.

Saturday 27th October, Saxmundham outside Waitrose ( cafe entrance) 10am-1pm another Street stall and Brexitometer

Please email me at: suffolkeu@gmail.com if you are able to support one or more of the above events. The more support we have on the streets and the bigger our presence the greater will be our impact upon changing the minds of local people.

At all of these street stalls we will be asking people to sign ‘the People’s Vote’ petition, handing out leaflets, talking to passers by and using Brexitometers to gauge the feelings of people about Brexit and an opportunity to vote again on what the government negotiates with the EU. It will be a good chance to get to know and work with other members of our group.

If you haven’t yet signed the petition which now has 312,815 signatures please follow this link.

Any response from your letters to your MP? Philip would like to hear from anyone who has received a meaningful reply from their MP or who has been able to make an appointment to see their MP.( He will also be keen to hear if you have had no response to a request.) You could do this via suffolkeu@gmail.com or contact him direct.

More Future Events:

Saturday 20th October A March in London to promote ‘The People’s Vote on the final Brexit deal’.

Following the great success of the March for a People’s Vote on 23rd June the organisers have announced that we will be marching to Westminster again on Saturday 20th October with an even bigger and better march before the ‘deal’ returns to Parliament. This march HAS TO BE HUGE so please come and encourage all your friends and family to join you.

We shall be travelling on the train that passes through Woodbridge station at 8.25 am and Ipswich station at 8.52 am. We are not going to suggest return times as people will have different ideas about how late they wish to stay in London. The train one hour later should also get you to London in good time. We will all be meeting outside The London Hilton Hotel on Park Lane, W1K 1BE. Other groups will be travelling from Cambridge and Norfolk, I can help you connect up with them if those locations are more convenient starting points for your journey. Train tickets can be booked through the ‘Trainline’ or ‘Abellio Greater Anglia’ websites and we advise you to book asap to avoid price rises.

Please look at the website to keep up to date with all our events: www.suffolkeualliance.org

Finally one of our members has recommended a Festival celebrating the suffragettes and votes for women which is taking place in Ipswich over the next few weeks. The suffragettes fought against tremendous opposition to win the right to vote and so they are an inspiration to many of us in our battle for democracy. For more information look at this website.

With best wishes
