General Meeting

Our next General Meeting is on Tuesday 9th April at Seckford Golf Club near Woodbridge.  The meeting starts at 7pm, but a pre-booked optional meal is available from 6pm at a cost of £8. This week’s choices are cottage pie or vegetarian cottage pie.  Please reply to this email ASAP if you’d like to order a meal. Location details and a map can be found at our website.

Please note due to the Easter Break our next meeting after Tuesday’s is in three weeks on April 30th.

Beccles Street Stall

We’re planning on doing street stall and Brexitometer in Beccles on Saturday 13th, continuing our campaign for a People’s Vote.  Please consider joining us even for an hour.  The bigger the crowd we have, the more people we’ll attract to our stall. We’ll be outside Lloyds Bank in Exchange Square.  You can find details of the location and a map on our website here.

Today, we had a fantastic turnout at both our Woodbridge and Halesworth street stalls – thank you to everyone who volunteered.  We’re finding opinion is now shifting away from a People’s Vote to wanting to Revoke Article 50 and simply bring an end the process. On the Leave side, most seem to prefer the No Deal option over a soft Brexit.  This shows public opinion is really beginning to polarise which reflects what is happening nationally.

EUnity Meeting

EUnity is a fledgling pro-EU group based in Ipswich.  Their next meeting is at 10am on Saturday 13 April at La Tour cafe on the Ipswich waterfront.  As a county-wide campaign group, SEUA supports new local grassroots groups.  To this end, our new Secretary, John Dell will be on hand to offer help and advice, and provide a communication channel to our committee. We ask if you live nearby that you attend to give your support and share you ideas on how we can continue our campaign to remain in the EU.  Details of location and a map can be found here on our website.

May elections

Suffolk EU Alliance remains non-partisan, but we do support any parties or candidates who are openly pro-Europe.

Pro-EU parties have a huge opportunity with the local elections on May 2nd. With the creation of the new District Councils of East and West Suffolk, all council seats are up for grabs.  The last time many of these seats were contested was the day of the 2015 General Election, and since then the entire political landscape has changed.  It is also increasingly likely that the UK will take part in the EU elections at the end of May.  We ask you to please consider assisting with a campaign in your area, even just leafleting your own road will help!  We’ll be sending you more detailed information on how you can volunteer in a few days – watch this space!

Thank you for your continued support.
