Our contingent from The Suffolk EU Alliance travelled on the train from Lowestoft, Halesworth, Melton and Woodbridge to meet up with more SEUA supporters at Ipswich station. We then continued our train journey to London along with supporters from other group who boarded the train at the stations on the way.
We gathered at the Institute of Directors in Pall Mall and marched with the huge crowd of well over 100,000 pro EU supporters from Pall Mall to Parliament Square to demand a vote on the final Brexit deal. It was wonderful to be part of this noisy, joyful and friendly crowd of like minded people from all over the UK and beyond. We waved our flags and banners and joined in with the chanting and singing. In Parliament Square we were treated to rousing speeches by Gina Miller, Tony Robinson, Caroline Lucas (Greens), David Lammy (Labour), Sir Vince Cable (Lib Dems) and Anna Soubry (Conservatives).
Following the great success of this March the organisers have announced that we will be marching to Westminster again on Saturday 20th October in a bigger and better march before the ‘deal’ returns to Parliament. The Brexit crisis will only get worse as businesses feel unable to invest in the future and our MPs continue to fight among themselves. So I encourage everyone to stand together and make sure our voices are heard by campaigning for the petition and marching again on Saturday 20th October. Please put this date in your diary now!
