I thought it may be helpful at this point to illustrate the benefits that the EU has brought this country over the past 45 years. So with apologies to the Monty Python team…..
What’s the EU ever done for us?
Well……
- It cleaned our rivers and beaches
- Increased our rights in work
- Protected our human rights
- Increased investment in our run-down areas
- Helped our young people study and work abroad
- Enabled our older people to retire in Europe without hindrance
- Invested in our science
- Protected the quality of our food
- Supported our farmers
- Developed trade deals with large parts of the world
- Ensured our imports met minimum standards
- Protected our children by ensuring toy imports are safe
- Increased our maternity and paternity rights
- Enabled us to bring in skilled workers for the NHS and industry
Okay, but apart from that…
…what’s the EU ever done for us…?
