Dear Supporters and Members,
We have reached a critical time in the Brexit process when we are going to need all hands to the pump. It’s looking highly likely Theresa May’s deal won’t pass, which will leave the government with very few options, one of which is the “People’s Vote”. We need all of you to spread the word. Many of the 700,000 who turned up to march in London in October, and many more who were cheering us on from around the country, don’t belong to one of the hundreds of grassroots anti-Brexit campaign groups, like the Suffolk EU Alliance, to be found in every corner of the UK.
To this end, we’d like your help.
Please consider, when sending out your Christmas cards this year, including a copy of the slip below in each card. We hope this will encourage your friends and family to join us in our campaign to stop Brexit.

Dates for this week
Thursday 6th December Rally in Ipswich outside EADT offices and then Endeavour House 10.45am – 1.30pm
Location: 10.45am East Anglia Daily Times, Portman House, Princes St, Ipswich, IP1 1RS This will be followed by a short march with flags etc and coffee.
1.15pm Endeavour House , 8, Russell Road, Ipswich, IP1 2BX
About this event: The Suffolk EU Alliance, on behalf of all our members, will be writing a special ‘meaningful letter’, crafted by our letter-writing group, to each of the seven Suffolk MPs prior to the first vote on Theresa May’s deal, and we need your help to publicise the delivery of the letters!
The letters, each placed in their own special box, will start their journey at the East Anglia Daily Times office close to Ipswich Town’s iconic Portman Road football ground at 10.50, accompanied by a pop-up rally of flag-waving SEUA members. We will give the Editor a copy of the letter and a press release explaining our purpose. From there, the rally will march the short distance (via a coffee shop owned by a European supporter) to Endeavour House, home to Suffolk County Council. We’ll time our arrival for 1:15 pm, which is forty five minutes before the beginning of a full Council committee meeting.
We hope Councillors sympathetic to our cause will say ‘hello’ and the rest will run the gauntlet of the People’s Vote mini-rally! Bring your flags and banners with you – and we’ll also bring a few spares.
Colin Hopkins (SEUA vice-chair) will prepare a letter to Michael Ladd, chairman of the council, asking for an appointment before the end of the year to discuss Suffolk County Council’s stance on Brexit.
We also hope to table a question at the January meeting. We will provide each of the councillors a copy of the letter. Once delivered, the rally will conclude some time before 2pm.
Meanwhile the boxes, each containing a letter intended for our MPs, will be taken to the House of Commons.
We’d like as many of you as possible to join us and to cheer on our “meaningful letter”. For directions, see both maps on our website. www.suffolkeualliance.org

Location: Julia’s House, Bell House, Kelsale, IP17 2PB
Following a gruelling five days of debate, MPs will vote on Theresa May’s Brexit deal in what is considered to be the biggest showdown in Parliament in years. Theresa May has given herself two weeks to win over enough of her rebellious party for the vote to succeed. The vote has been set for 7pm.
Julia Ewart, SEUA’s Chair, is inviting members and supporters to her home to watch the debate and the vote happening live with like-minded friends. It could be a nail-biting finish and definitely not something to be missed! Drinks and nibbles will be provided. Please can you RSVP to: suffolkeu@gmail.com
Thursday 20th December The ‘Bollocks to Brexit’ bus is on tour and we are hoping that it will visit Ipswich on it’s journey from Norwich where it is due at 9am to Colchester at 11.30am. We will need lots of supporters to greet the bus so please keep the morning free and watch our website for a more exact time and further information.
With thanks and best wishes
